“Britain’s home care scandal” BBC1 Panorama documentary (09.04.09)

Michelle Mitchell‚ Charity Director for Age Concern and Help the Aged said:

"Vulnerable older people and their families are being let down just when they need it most. Not getting any help when they need it or getting poor quality carers can lead to a devastating loss of dignity.

“They are naturally angry about this because they feel let down. It is not acceptable for care providers to cut corners by not training staff properly or not supporting them to carry out procedures properly.

"The current care and support system needs straightening out‚ starting with a new national entitlement to services that is designed around people’s needs.

“Politicians face tough choices but must grasp the nettle to deliver a system that treats older people with the dignity and respect they deserve."
